Dean Rogers

Jun 8, 1929 — Aug 7, 2026

Paris, TN

Funeral services for Mrs. Wylodean "Dean" Rodgers, age 97, will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Bruff Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Wylodean (Dean) Rogers was born June 8, 1929, to Lonnie and Vennie Bruff. She was the third of 4 children. Raised in Skullbone, Tn she developed values of faith, hard work, and a commitment to family that never faltered.

She was baptized in the muddy waters of the South Fork of the Obion River at Shades Bridge and was a lifelong member of Pleasant View Church of Christ.

Dean married Gene Rogers in 1947, and they were soul mates for 59 years. She worked beside Gene in farming their land while working full time as a factory worker. Together they later established Rogers Cushion Company in Bradford, Tn, which proved to be a profitable and thriving business. Gene’s death separated them in 2006 until August 8, 2026, when Dean went home to be with him again.

To know Dean was to love her, and although no children of her own, she was big sister to Johnny Bruff (Patsy) and favorite aunt to Phyllis Huggins, Cindy Tate (Jimmy), Tracy Bruff (Jennifer), Gordon Bruff (Amanda), and Chris Huggins (Amy), the oldest of her ten great nieces and nephews. She never tired of hearing about the great nieces and nephews and keeping tabs on their accomplishments, and their children. A newspaper clipping or a new picture to place in one of her many albums always made her day.

Dean had the ability to make everyone feel welcome with a home that was always warm and inviting. Her greatest joy was “feeding” you. It was her way of showing the unconditional love she had for you.

She was preceded in death by other loved ones: Her parents, Lonnie and Vennie Bruff, brother, Lonnie Bruff, Jr, sister, Clydene McCartney all of Bradford.

Her in-laws, Ben and Margie Flippin of Greenfield and Harold McCartney of Bradford (whom she loved as brothers and sisters) and her beloved nephew, Stacey Bruff of Union City, Tn, all preceded her as well.

After 97 years she leaves us all an example of what a true Southern, hardworking, kind spirited woman should be. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers include Jimmy Tate, Tracy Bruff, Gordon Bruff, Chris Huggins, Justin Oliver, and Grant Ellington.
