William Dwain McCartney Sr.

Funeral services for William Dwain McCartney, Sr., will beheld on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Gargus, Bro Mike Melton,, and Bro. Kenneth Epperson officiating. Interment will follow at Belew's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McCartney, age 79, died early on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Jackson Madison Co.General Hospital.

He was born on August 30, 1937, in Weakley County, Tennessee. He was raised in Gibson County and attended local country schools in and around Bradford, He was married on November 29, 1957 in Humboldt, Tennessee and lived there for around 12 years before returning to northeastern Gibson County, where he lived the remainder of his life.

Dwain was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt, but in recent years attended Belew's Chapel Church near Bradford.

He retired after 34 years at Jones in Humboldt, where he was a second shift supervisor for many years. He also farmed, fixed up old equipment to sell and was a regular attendee at auction all over the area.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara Henley McCartney, a daughter Chris (Craig) Griffin of Bradford, TN, two sons William Dwain "Big Bill" McCartney (girlfriend Deena) of Bradford, TN, and Jason Scott "Scotty" (Sandi) McCartney of Milan, TN, a brother, Freddie (Glenda) McCartney of Milan,TN. four grandchildren Corey (Rachel) Griffin, Adam (Meloni) McCartney, Jessica (Alex) Floyd, and Lindsey (Robbie) Coleman. nine Great Granchildren  Juliana Allen, Kaci Turner, Jase McCartney, Evan Griffin, Sarah Turner, Lydia Floyd, Callie Coleman, Anna Lee Floyd, and Odin Floyd. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who live to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father Fred Howard McCartney, 1977, his mother, Lorene Williams McCartney, in 2006, and a brother, Abner Lee McCartney, in 2014.

Pallbrearers will be Phillip McCartney, Steve McCartney, Jeremy McCartney, Johnny McCartney, Dale McCartney, and Kevin Knott. Honorary pallbrearers are Johnny Thompson, Copelyn McCartney, Cole McCartney, Carter McCartney and Ashton McCartney.
