William Harold Burke

William Harold Burke, 88, of Bradford TN passed away on Tuesday, January 30^th at his home surrounded by family. He was one of eight children born June 4, 1929 in Carroll Co., TN to Bland and Norma Burke. Mr. Burke was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army 25th Division 53rd Airborne Infantry Regiment during the Korean War where he was awarded two Bronze Campaign Stars and the United Nations Service Metal. He worked thirty years for The Jackson Sun as a linotype operator and later in the typeset area of the newspaper. He enjoyed using his sawmill and woodworking. 

Mr. Burke is preceded in death by three sisters, Fay Tegethoff, Dorothy Barker and Lucille Burke, and three brothers James Burke, Edward Burke, Ernest Burke, and Charles Burke.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Pearlie Mae Smith Burke, one daughter and three sons, Audie and Terry Burke of Asheville NC, Tim and Karen Burke of Bradford TN, Karen Burke Swindell of Bradford TN, and Steve and Tracy Burke of North Wilkesboro NC, eight grandchildren Alicia Swindell, Blake Burke, Chris Burke, Laura (Beth) Swindell, Amber Shane, Cody Burke, Crystal Smith, Lauren Burke, and three great grandchildren, Zaden Shane, Wyatt Swindell, and Aviana Shane.

Funeral Services for William Harold Burke will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hunt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. PJ Scott officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Greenfield, TN. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday 1:00 p.m. until service time.
