Mr. Reynolds was born November 5, 1934, in the Cades Community in Gibson County TN, to Martha Gertrude Turner Reynolds (mother, deceased) and Joe Edmon Reynolds (father, deceased). He was preceded in death by Billy Joe Reynolds (brother). His resting place will be Bradford Cemetery next to his loving wife of sixty-five years Mrs. Bettye Jean Thornton Reynolds (1932-2024). He transitioned to his heavenly home on May 21, 2025, in Winston Salem, NC, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

He is survived by Johnny D. Reynolds (son), Jeanie M. Reynolds (daughter-in-law), Cate Thornton Reynolds (granddaughter), and Sylas M. Reynolds (grandson) of Kernersville, NC, and Ms. Peggy C. Thornton (sister-in-law) of Trenton, TN. His extended family includes numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Mr. Reynolds was a lifelong Christian, and he enjoyed helping others. He served in the United States Air Force - Intelligence. He had several assignments outside the US, and he enjoyed traveling around the world. After his military service, he served in various leadership roles in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization at the local, state, and national levels.

Prior to moving to NC three years ago, he was a long-term resident of Bradford, TN. He was active in the Bradford community working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for almost twenty years. He later became a counselor with the Tennessee Critical Incident Stress Management Program, and he was proud to serve in New York City (including ground zero) after the Sept 11, 2001, events. He also served as a constable for Gibson County.

He enjoyed visiting with friends and family, fishing, farm life, and lake life at Kentucky Lake. He also took great pleasure in being a part of the lives of his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Reynolds asked that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, a humanitarian aid organization that serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need (www.garysinisefoundation.org).
